Breast Lift, Reduction, Reconstruction Surgery in Albuquerque and Santa Fe

Many women feel that their breasts are symbols of their femininity and are proud of their appearance. However, over time, age can cause breasts to droop, excess back pain can cause large breasts to become more of a burden than a benefit, and cancer or other issues can create a need for breast reconstruction. All of these issues can be addressed at Hermosa Plastic Surgery with procedures that produce natural-looking results. Dr. Miguel Gallegos is experienced in performing all types of breast surgery, including lift and reduction procedures, at his Albuquerque practice, serving Santa Fe and Southern New Mexico areas. His goal is to give all women breasts they can be proud of.

Breast Lift

In time, aging takes its toll on the female body, and this process is especially visible in the breast area. Sagging and drooping breasts caused by aging, breastfeeding, and genetic factors can create a frumpy and even overweight appearance in otherwise attractive women. The breast lift procedure is designed to give such women perkier and shapelier breasts, either with their natural tissue only or with the addition of breast implants.

The breast lift procedure is performed by Albuquerque surgeon Miguel Gallegos. Incisions are carefully made underneath the breasts and around the areolas. A straight incision is also made in a vertical line down the underside of each breast. Working through these incisions, Dr. Gallegos removes the excess skin that allows the breasts to sag. If implants are desired, they are inserted at this time. Once these steps are complete, Dr. Gallegos closes the incisions.

During the next two to three weeks, patients experience some swelling and bruising in the chest area. Patients should avoid sleeping on their stomachs during this time and are required to wear support bandages or sports bras to help the breasts heal properly. Most patients love their finished results and find that their clothing fits them much better. Breast Reduction

Women who have naturally oversized breasts often have a love/hate relationship with their bodies. On one hand, they love being naturally voluptuous; on the other, back pain, limited wardrobe options, and other inconveniences associated with large breasts often keep them from feeling good and doing all of the things they want to. For women who are ready to do something about the discomfort associated with large breasts, breast reduction is the best option.

Breast reduction is performed at Hermosa Plastic Surgery for women from Santa Fe and throughout Southern New Mexico. During this procedure, incisions are made along the underside of each breast and around the areolas. Additional incisions are made down the center of the underside of each breast. Excess tissue is carefully trimmed away and removed. The nipples are repositioned at higher points on the breasts and the remaining breast skin is pulled together to produce a more taut and perky appearance. Once the desired breast size and shape have been achieved, the incisions are closed.

Recovery from breast reduction can take several weeks. In the week after surgery, patients can manage any discomfort they feel with prescription pain medication. A support bra or bandage should be worn during this time to aid in healing. Once the recovery process is complete, patients can begin enjoying their new figures. Not only do smaller breasts feel better, but they often look better and can even make a woman appear more slender. Many women enjoy more active lifestyles after breast reduction surgery.

Breast Reconstruction

After losing one or both breasts to mastectomy due to breast cancer, many women find prosthetic breasts uncomfortable and unsatisfactory. At the same time, they do not want to sacrifice their feminine figures because of the effects of cancer. Breast reconstruction is an excellent option for these women. This procedure uses the body’s own tissue, along with a breast implant, to recreate the look and feel of a natural breast. Several techniques may be used to perform this operation. We recommend that you consult with Dr. Gallegos at an in-office consultation to learn more about this procedure and the financing options available using your insurance.
